Physical Education Course Requirements And Grading Guidlines
Physical Education is a mandated course in New York State. All students must participate in the physical education program just as they do in other aspects of their academic program; physical education is a required subject area (Education Law, Article17, Section 803).

Grading Policy
Grades will be calculated as follows
Make-ups
We offer early morning (6:45-7:10) and late afternoon (1:45-2:27) make-up classes for students who miss class due to illness, injury, absences, and/or lack of appropriate attire, etc.
Sportsfolio
Students who are out on medical for more than three weeks will be assigned to a reading and writing program called sportsfolio. Students who are medically excluded from a regular participation class will receive a grade based on a daily sportsfolio assignment.
Parent Notes
Students will not be required to participate on any given day when accompanied by a note from a parent or guardian. However, students will not receive credit for the class but will have the option of making up that class.
Students are expected to:
- Attend class according to their class schedule. All students must maintain ninety percent (90%) attendance rate in physical education to be eligible for course credit. Students who are absent more than five (5) days during any one semester will be subject to being declared not eligible to earn credit.
- Be prepared for activity with appropriate attire: sneakers that tie, shorts, T-shirt, sweat shirt, warm-up pants and/or jacket.
- Make every effort to perform to their maximum potential in relation to the activity to which they have been assigned.
- Remove ALL jewelry (including watches, rings, bracelets, body piercing decorations, etc.) before participating in physical education class.
Grading Policy

- 60% - daily fitness requirements
- 30% - basic skill competencies
- 10% - written quizzes/tests/homework's
